Ty's Take
Holiday Lane's getting tore up this week, which means if you're heading that direction you'll want to find another route and settle in for it. Meanwhile, the community's rallying around a Texas County family with a fish and chicken dinner, which is how things still work out here when somebody needs help, and the Parks and Recreation department's got basketball registration open if you've got kids looking to burn off some energy before school settles in. Out at the MDC wingshooting program on the 18th, there'll be folks dusting off their shotguns and remembering why September's the best month in the Ozarks. The Walnut Festival over in Alton on the 3rd of October gives you something to circle on the calendar too. This is the time of year when the work starts slowing just enough to remember there's more to life than what needs fixing.
