There's something worth noting when a whole community stops to say thanks to the people keeping the town's story alive. The Silver City Museum isn't some big operation with deep pockets and a staff that never worries about the next grant cycle. It's a place that runs on the kind of work where you show up because you care about what happened here, the mining booms and busts and everything that came after. A luncheon to honor that takes time to organize, and it says something about a town that does it. Grant County's got plenty of folks who could be anywhere else right now, but they're here instead, and half the time they're the same people who volunteer their afternoons to make sure the next generation knows why Silver City matters.
