Ty's Take
When a state representative candidate ends up facing federal charges for conspiracy to distribute cocaine, you stop and think about what kind of shape things are in. Not just politics, which Lord knows runs hot and cold depending on the year and who's talking, but the desperation that lands somebody in that particular hole. Out here we still believe elections mean something, that we get to pick who represents us in Jefferson City, and that losing ought to sting but not destroy you. A lot of people worked hard for their candidates this cycle. Most of them did it straight. That's the part worth remembering when the courthouse news gets ugly.
