It's been a rough stretch on the roads around here—five crashes in a week, a woman dead down in Flippin, people hurt on the highway near Ava, and that's just what made the scanner. Summer's coming and so are the tourists heading south into Arkansas, the hay trucks moving between counties, everybody running faster because the season's short and the work's long. Sheriff's office is doing their job, picking up wanted men and fugitives, but there's only so much they can do when somebody's already made a bad decision behind the wheel. Drive like you know somebody's counting on you getting home.

A Flippin woman died Friday night when her vehicle left Highway 178 in Marion County while navigating a curve and crashed. Arkansas State Police responded to the single-vehicle accident that occurred at 9:55 p.m. on May 29.
