These aviation events don't come around often in Howell County, and Saturday's Flying Start at the EAA chapter is the kind of thing that plants seeds—maybe in a kid who's never been close to a plane, maybe in someone who's thought about flying but never took the step. West Plains sits in good country for that kind of dreaming, the kind where a teenager who grows up working cattle or fixing equipment can look up and see something different waiting. The Ozarks don't produce many pilots, but the ones who come through here tend to be the kind who remember exactly where the idea started.
