Ty's Take
Michelle Renee Sanders, who spent her life in this valley, passed this week at 82. The Bulletin ran her obituary the way it runs them all, with the basics and the survivors' names, which is proper. But anyone who's been around Las Cruces long enough knows an obit like that is really a marker for a whole generation of people who watched this place grow from something you could cross on a bicycle to what it is now. The Mesilla Valley doesn't keep much institutional memory anymore, so when somebody who remembers when Main Street was actually the main street goes, we lose something we don't always know how to measure. That's worth noting on a slow news day.
