Bernie Carrillo made it to 92 in a town that's changed more in his lifetime than most places change in three centuries, and folks around here will remember him for showing up, year after year, in a community that needed people who stayed put. The same week we mark his passing, a young entrepreneur is building something new out of thread and ambition, which is exactly how Las Cruces has always worked, loss and growth side by side, one generation handing off to the next.
