Eight years is a long time to wait for answers, and longer still if you're the family wondering whether justice was ever actually coming. The charges filed this week in the Tory Sanders case pull at something Shannon County hasn't quite been able to let go of, not since that morning in 2018 when questions started piling up faster than anybody had decent answers. A lot of water's gone under the bridge on these rivers since then, a lot of doubt about who knew what and whether the people we pay to figure it out were doing their job. Maybe this means something's finally broken open. Maybe it means somebody with real evidence finally came forward. Either way, it's hard to imagine a community that's spent eight years looking over its shoulder taking any of this lightly.
