Every August when the heat settles in and people start thinking about back-to-school, somebody around here remembers that not every kid in Luna County walks into September with a full backpack. Stuff The Bus has been running long enough now that folks know the drill—you bring notebooks, pencils, folders, whatever you can spare, and it goes into a bus parked somewhere public where people can see the need and do something about it. It's not fancy. It's not complicated. It's just Deming figuring out that if we're going to talk about our kids' futures, we'd better make sure they've got the basics to sit down and learn. The 2026 campaign's already on the radar, which means organizers are thinking ahead, and that's the kind of thinking this town runs on.
