Football season opened up here over the weekend, which means the valley's got something to rally around besides water fights and potato prices for the next few months. Early returns look solid across the board, the kind of starts that keep folks talking at the grain elevator and give the high schools something to build on heading into September. These first few games matter less for the wins and losses than for what they tell you about who's got the depth and who's still figuring things out.
