Heat's coming hard into the basin, and the usual warnings about hydration and shade don't quite cut it out here—we're talking about the kind of temperatures that can turn a short walk into something serious, especially for the older folks who came here for the hot springs and ended up staying for the dry winters. The good news is our EMS crews know what they're doing, and with Smith taking over as city manager and the town moving forward on water and infrastructure projects, there's at least some indication that someone's thinking about capacity when the mercury climbs and folks from the lake start heading into town. Still, a heat advisory is only as good as the neighbors who look in on neighbors, and the ones who check their elderly relatives' AC units before July hits hard. That's the real precaution.
