Ty's Take

The state's new water dashboard is exactly the kind of transparency we've been asking for, and exactly the kind we need to keep asking hard questions about. Santa Fe can track progress on paper all day long, but down here where the Rio Grande actually feeds Elephant Butte and our irrigation ditches, progress means something different—it means water in the lake when summer hits, and enough flow to keep the ranches and farms alive downstream. The dashboard is a start, maybe even a good one, but it's a tool for watching, not a guarantee. We'll be watching too.
