The drug busts this week—six arrested, grand jury indictments rolling in—remind us that trouble doesn't announce itself in a town like Silver City. It's here, quiet, mixed in with everything else we're trying to build. But what caught my eye was the piece about those folks working to bring the community orchard back to life near Gough Park. That's the other half of the story we don't always see in the arrest reports and court filings. While some hands are taking things apart, others are literally planting roots, calling themselves co-stewards of a place that's trying to figure out what it wants to be. In a county that's seen its share of boom and bust, that matters.
