Ty's Take

The library's been open a few weeks now, and already you can see it's become more than a building—it's become a reason for people to show up somewhere that isn't their house or their job. That matters more than it sounds like it should, especially in a place where half the year tourists are shoulder-to-shoulder on Main Street and the other half you could roll a tumbleweed through downtown without hitting anybody. Add in the Art Walk coming up, the theater getting ready to open *Fiddler on the Roof*, and suddenly there's a calendar worth keeping. The difference between loneliness and social isolation might sound like semantics until you realize one's a feeling and one's a fact—and facts can be fixed if there's something to actually do together.
