Ty's Take

The weather turned mean this week, which around here means the monsoon season finally remembered where it lives. Roads washing out in the Animas area and treacherous driving between Lordsburg and Deming aren't just inconveniences for folks trying to get somewhere, they're reminders that this country doesn't care much about our schedules. Meanwhile, up at the university, students and families were parading through town for homecoming, probably eyeing the sky and hoping the severe thunderstorm warnings would hold off just long enough. That's the Grant County shuffle, really, trying to live normal lives while the landscape decides whether it's going to cooperate or not.
