Ty's Take

You can tell a lot about a town by what it does with its kids in June—whether it's pushing them toward a book or a stage or a piano bench. Pagosa's doing all three, which says something decent about a place that could just as easily let summer drift into screen time and air conditioning. The library's reading challenge, those auditions for SpongeBob, Travers Vasek's recital, the community theater bringing 'Come From Away' in—it's not a packed calendar because we're a small town, but it's intentional. These things don't happen by accident. They happen because people here still believe that keeping kids engaged, teaching them something about art and effort and showing up, matters more than convenience. That's worth noticing.
