Ty's Take
The Democratic primary result shouldn't surprise anybody up here—Haaland's got deep roots in the valley, understands the water politics and the land-grant issues that keep folks awake at night, and she's been doing the work long enough that people know her name from more than a yard sign. But what matters more to Rio Arriba County than who wins statewide is what happens in our own backyard, and that's where folks need to stay sharp. The real races that'll shape whether this valley keeps its character or gets reshaped by outside money and outside thinking happen at the county level and in those village boards. Pay attention to your local ticket come November.
