Ty's Take
You can read a lot into a town by what it argues about, and Silver City's having a real one right now. We're fighting over intersection redesigns and landfill fees and whether a compost operation makes sense for our recycling future, which sounds like normal municipal stuff until you remember we're a place still sorting out what comes after mining. Those arguments matter because they're about what we're building instead. Meanwhile, the university's trying to bring people back together at a Welcome Back Bash, and that's worth noticing too. A community that's actively disagreeing about its future is still a community that believes it has one.
