City Council renamed the golf course this week, and maybe that's small stuff in the grand scheme of things, but anybody who's lived here long enough knows these decisions matter more than the vote tally suggests. A golf course is where business gets done, where people from different parts of town end up walking the same fairway, where a banker and a boat plant supervisor might actually talk like neighbors instead of just passing on Main. The freshmen heading off to Missouri State got their sendoff too, which is the kind of thing we mark because this town sends its kids out into the world and then hopes they remember where they're from.
