Ty's Take

Drowning, fire, assaults, and a pedestrian hit hard enough to send someone to the hospital—that's not the weekend most lake towns want to read about come Monday morning. What matters now is that whoever was working that dock when the boat went up knew what to do, and that the water rescue crews got to that Imperial man fast enough to try. The lake draws people here year-round, brings money in, fills the marinas and the restaurants, but it doesn't care who you are or whether you're watching close enough. Neither does a road. This time of year especially, when the season kicks into gear and traffic picks up, it's worth remembering that the Ozarks beautiful is the same Ozarks unforgiving.
