Ty's Take
Water's running high this time of year, and the lake's been pulling hard on anybody fool enough to underestimate her—two drowning calls in as many days out on the Niangua arm tells you something about spring on the Ozarks. We've said it before and we'll say it again: life jackets aren't a suggestion, they're not a hassle, and they're not something you wear next time. Lost a 55-year-old from Imperial and saw three more hurt in what amounts to preventable trouble on the roads. The season's turning mean right now, between high water and the drinking and the way people get careless when the sun's out. That's not judgment—that's just the obituary page talking plain.
