Ty's Take

Two stories caught my eye today that tell us something important about where our community's headed. First, congratulations to that Camdenton educator who just got named the state's best librarian — in an era where rural schools are fighting for every dollar and every talented teacher, having someone recognized at that level speaks volumes about the quality people we've got working in our schools. On the flip side, the boat sales report showing overall sales down but superyacht sales up feels like a perfect snapshot of what's happening around the Lake, where the gap between everyday folks and the ultra-wealthy visitors keeps growing. It's great that the high-end market is still bringing money into the area, but I hope our local marine dealers and service folks aren't getting squeezed out as the clientele gets more and more exclusive.
