Homecoming week's got the whole town turned around in that good way it does every fall, with the parade shaping up and the Tigers riding high after another win down at Salem. You can feel it in the way folks linger at the coffee shop talking about the game, the way the school colors start showing up on truck antennas and porch railings. Two serious accidents over the weekend reminded everybody that the roads around here don't care how good your week is going, and that's worth keeping in mind when you're heading home after the game or headed out to help with the harvest. Count your blessings that both drivers walked away, and maybe that's the real homecoming lesson anyway, getting back safe to the people waiting for you.
