Adams State's teams are in the thick of their schedules now, which means the college is pumping money and energy back into town whether the stands are packed or not. Down on the main drag, the Society Hall is doing what it's always done: pulling neighbors together over food and conversation, the kind of thing that actually holds a place together when you're nine thousand people spread across high desert. And out on the highway between here and the New Mexico line, crews are laying asphalt, which sounds small until you remember that in a valley where water fights have been eating up attention for years, a road in decent condition is its own kind of infrastructure win.
