Del Norte's five-year moratorium on Flock cameras is the kind of local decision that travels faster than the data those cameras collect. Word gets around in a valley this size, and when one town decides it doesn't want automated license plate readers watching its streets, the neighboring counties start asking themselves hard questions about what they're willing to trade for convenience. It's worth watching whether the conversation spreads down here to Alamosa, especially as we keep wrestling with how much surveillance fits into a place that still remembers when everybody knew everybody anyway. Sometimes the smallest towns get the big decisions right first.
