Ty's Take
The week's good news runs straight through the heart of what makes this valley work: somebody's doing the job right, somebody's remembering the history that got us here, somebody's ready when things go sideways. The heat wave that pushed us past a hundred degrees brought out neighbors checking on neighbors, the kind of small decency that doesn't make the statewide news but keeps a town like this from coming apart at the seams. Meanwhile, Fort Garland's bringing back the Buffalo Soldiers' story where it belongs, SLV Health's got leadership that knows the health care money game, and up in Saguache County the search and rescue folks are doing what they always do when somebody's lost in this unforgiving country. Even the power line work from here to Sargent, boring as that sounds, is the kind of infrastructure that lets us stay put instead of moving to Denver. Most days you don't see all that machinery moving at once.
