Ty's Take

Fall festivals are spinning up across the region, and that's the good news that usually leads the week around here. The bad news is what fills the rest of the police blotter: a string of charges that reads like a reminder that domestic trouble, fleeing from law enforcement, and reckless choices don't take a season off. We've got an officer down in Mountain View (literally, they're looking to hire), an ATV crash that needed a helicopter, and enough assault and weapons charges scattered across three counties to make you wonder what's driving people to these edges. The festivals matter because they're what holds a community together on a Saturday, the reason families come to town and neighbors remember they know each other. But the blotter matters too, because it's the other version of what we are when things go sideways. Both are fall in the Ozarks.
