The Ozarks Historic Resource Center's conversation series hitting its fifth installment with a look at modernity and tradition in this part of the country is the kind of thing that matters more than it might sound like at first. Two hundred fifty years of America in these hills has meant a particular kind of living, a way of making do and making a living that doesn't fit neatly into what the rest of the world calls progress. Ava man accused of harassment, assault at local gym
An Ava man faces charges of first degree harassment and fourth degree assault following an alleged incident with an off-duty Douglas County detention officer at a local gym in November. Ricky David Atkinson, 66, is accused in connection with the confrontation.
Memorial Bull Riding Set for Mountain Grove
The National Federation of Professional Bullriders will bring the Jeff and Randy Walkowe Memorial Bull Riding to the Tri-County Fairgrounds in Mountain Grove on Saturday, Sept. 5. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with free children's activities starting at 6 p.m. and bull riding beginning at 8 p.m.
