Ty's Take
Every ten years after the census, somebody in power gets the idea they can draw better lines than God did, and here we are again watching states take their turn at the redistricting wheel before the midterms hit. Missouri's already been through this dance—we know how it goes, the maps get redrawn, somebody's district gets longer or wider, and out here in Howell County you wonder if anybody in Jefferson City even remembers what it looks like to drive through country like this. The real question isn't whether the lines will change; it's whether any of it matters much to the people who've got cattle to move and hay to cut before the rain comes. That's the calculus most folks around West Plains are working on these days, and frankly, it's the one that's always mattered more than whatever the politicians are carving up on paper.
