Ty's Take
Two stories out of Arrey Elementary this week that don't sit easy next to each other. On one hand, you've got kids and teachers honoring their dead the way this community has done for generations, building altars and remembering the ones who came before. That's the work of keeping culture alive in a small place. On the other hand, somebody made threats against the school, serious enough to bring law enforcement moving fast. Both things happened under the same roof in the same week. That's the state of things now, even here, even in places where people still gather to remember their ancestors and teach their children to do the same. The school handled it, the threats got investigated, and the altars stayed up. But it's worth sitting with that contrast for a minute.
