Ty's Take

Nobody much sleeps easy when voting machine companies change hands, and it doesn't matter much whether the new owner votes red or blue. What matters is the machines work the way they're supposed to work, which they do here, but you can't blame folks for paying attention. Meanwhile, the Copper Flat mine keeps grinding through its hearings and its tailings stability questions while we're all watching the Rio Grande do what it's been doing for ten thousand years, which is remind us that water is the real vote that counts out here. Fire season's easing up enough that the county lifted restrictions this week, a small mercy for folks who've been holding their breath. There's concerts and county fairs and a new fence around the old helicopter in Veterans Park, the little things that tell you a town is still breathing.
