Ty's Take

The boil-water advisory that hit town last week could've been a real mess, and credit goes to whoever caught it early enough to keep folks safe before things got worse. That's the kind of invisible work that doesn't make headlines until something goes wrong, which in this case it didn't. Meanwhile, the Commission's investing in streets and the airport while the school board and union hammered out a deal, which means life around here is moving forward on multiple fronts even if none of it feels dramatic. The bigger story, though, is what's still percolating behind the scenes: the Copper Flat hearing on electricity, the Spaceport open house getting canceled, and all those questions about what the space economy actually means for Sierra County once you dig past the press releases. This town's always been about water and land and making do. Now we're adding electricity grids and commercial flight paths to that equation.
