Ty's Take
The copper mine talk never really stops around here, and another hearing on Copper Flat means another round of the same calculus we've been doing for years: what's the upside against what we might lose. Meanwhile, the city council just passed a budget that doesn't dodge the real problem sitting in front of us, solid waste costs that have ballooned to four and a half million dollars and keep climbing. That's the kind of number that makes every other line item look thin. At least Sean Barnes settled his dispute with the city without dragging it out further, and the Tigers came home from Tularosa with a win to start the season, which is exactly the kind of good news a town needs when it's wrestling with the harder stuff.
