Ty's Take
Budget season in Sierra County tends to sort itself out the way it always does, which is to say the real work happens in closed rooms before anybody votes yes. The hospital's FY2027 budget passing means the lights stay on and the emergency room keeps running, and that matters more than the name of whoever's in the room when it happens. Out here you learn that governance isn't always pretty, but it's usually necessary, and we've got enough actual problems (water levels, property taxes, keeping young people from leaving) without getting too wound up about parliamentary procedure. What's worth watching now is whether the county commission's budget review actually produces anything different, or whether we're just going through the motions again. Meanwhile, that golf tournament drawing championship-level sponsorship money is the kind of good news this county needs right now, even if it doesn't fix the hard stuff.
