Ty's Take
Fall's hitting right on schedule, and up at Shattuck Vineyard they're pulling in another harvest, which means somebody around here is still betting on the land instead of just passing through it. That matters in a county where most of what gets planted either needs a lot of water we don't always have or needs to survive on faith and clay. The Foch Street party and whatever the city's working through on Daniels and the budget numbers, those are the usual moves, the steady business of keeping a small place running. But a vineyard that comes back year after year, that keeps hands employed and draws people out to look at something besides the highway, that's the kind of stubborn that makes sense out here.
