Ty's Take
When a town finishes the year three and a half million dollars under budget, you either had a good year or a lean one, and around Truth or Consequences those two things aren't always easy to separate. We've been running on fumes here for long enough that holding the line feels like winning, even when what we're really doing is making do with less than we promised ourselves. The real question isn't what we didn't spend—it's whether the things we deferred, delayed, or plain skipped are the kinds of things that'll come due later, or whether we finally learned to trim the fat that had been building up for years. Either way, fiscal discipline beats red ink, and whoever's keeping this ship steady deserves credit for that.
