Ty's Take

The water argument never stops around here, and the Citizen's piece on development and the Colorado Compact isn't wrong to sound the alarm. We've all watched what happens downstream when upstream doesn't play by the rules, and Texas didn't sign on to share the Rio Grande just to watch New Mexico get creative with the fine print. The good news is we've got people who know the difference between a vision and a fantasy, and they're paying attention. Meanwhile, the mission hits a century, the Tigers are playing football, and somebody's taking a swing at breathing new life into the Butte General Store, which means there's still folks betting on this place. That's the balance we live with out here: long water shadows and short local wins.
