Ty's Take
Hospitals in towns this size don't expand without reason, and Gila Regional's new MRI machine says something about where Silver City sits right now. We're not shrinking anymore. The Gran Fondo brought out cyclists and volunteers on the same weekend, which tells you the town's got both roots in the old outdoor economy and something newer taking hold. Then you've got the darker story underneath, the kind that reminds you law enforcement around here stays busy in ways most of us don't see coming. It's the regular rhythm of a small county trying to hold itself together, the good rides and the hard arrests happening in the same week, the same season.
