Ty's Take
There's a particular rhythm to October in Grant County, the one where the harvest comes in and the community takes stock of itself all at once. This week we saw that rhythm on full display: the Harvest Festival bringing folks together at San Lorenzo, Santa Clara rolling up its sleeves for a cleanup month, and meanwhile the town holding a forum to find out who might steer Silver City's ship next year. That last one matters more than some might think. A town manager either understands this place, what it's trying to become and what it's leaving behind, or he doesn't. The candidates who showed up at the Republican Party meeting are part of that larger conversation happening right now about who we are and where we're headed. Pay attention to who's paying attention.
