Ty's Take
Kiki's opening a second spot with a full kitchen and bakery, which says something about where Silver City's headed these days. A decade ago that kind of expansion would've been unthinkable in a town still nursing the mining economy's wounds. Meanwhile we've got a data center developer coming to pitch the County Commission, which is the kind of thing that keeps people up at night around here, whether they're worried about water consumption or excited about jobs. The scrapping and scraping that goes on in the margins, the small businesses betting on this place, the outside money looking in, the careful questions about what kind of future we're building, it all happens at once in towns like ours. Hard to know which thread matters most until you're five years down the road looking back.
