Ty's Take
Watching the House District 39 candidates lay out their cases, you get a reminder that Silver City's never been a one-note town. One's got roots here going back decades, another's fresh to the area with new ideas, and both are trying to speak to people who work in mines and galleries, who worry about water and wolves, who need good jobs and good schools. The real work starts after somebody wins the primary. Over at Gila Regional, meanwhile, there's actual movement on rural healthcare, which matters more than most people realize until they need it or can't get it. And Sarah Doehring's leaving tells you something about who stays and who goes, and what it costs to do either one. This week's news is small-town politics doing what it does best and worst: trying to hold things together while everything around you keeps shifting.
