Ty's Take
The legal scrapping between Cobre and Bayard over that field lease is exactly the kind of thing that grinds on a county like ours, where water rights and mineral claims have been tangled up in paper trails since before most of us were born. You've got lawyers arguing over who gets to do what on land that's been fought over for a century, meanwhile the sandbags are stacked and ready because the sky doesn't wait for the lawyers to finish. This is Grant County in a nutshell, I guess, always trying to figure out whether we're in the business of digging, or drilling, or just hanging on to what we've got while the weather does what it wants.
