Ty's Take

Turkey Creek's been catching hell from both sides this week, which is about what you'd expect when a county crew shows up with a dump truck and somebody's got a camera phone. The allegations about debris landing in the creek hit different in a town that's built half its identity around protecting water and wildlands, so the county's getting defensive and the conservation folks are circling. What matters most isn't who's technically right on this one, though that'll matter eventually. What matters is that Silver City's still sorting out who watches the watchers, and whether a town serious about being a gateway to two wildernesses can figure out its own backyard first. Meanwhile the council's hunting for a new town manager, which means somebody's about to inherit this mess along with the permit headaches and the usual budget fights. That's the job.
