Nobody wants to see a school lose its fields, but the talk about Altamirano is worth paying attention to because it says something about how tight things are getting around here. When a district starts looking at what it owns and thinking hard about what it can afford to keep, you're watching a budget problem turn into a real one. The city manager search happening at the same time isn't separate from that either, not really. New leadership inherits old questions about money, about what gets maintained and what gets let go, about whether Silver City can afford to be as generous with its public spaces as it used to be. Sometimes the small decisions pile up into something bigger. This looks like one of those moments.
