Grant County commissioners are about to test something we don't talk about enough around here: how much more people will pay when they don't have much choice. The solid waste fee increase is coming, and yeah, the county probably needs it, but there's a reason folks get quiet when you mention raising rates on garbage service. It hits different when you're already watching every dollar. The real question isn't whether it's justified. It's whether the people who set the rates understand that for some households around here, the difference between eight dollars a month and twelve might mean something else doesn't get paid.
