Grant Memorial Regional Medical Center inching forward on its fixes, Cobre Schools squeezing nickels on food and custodial work, and a new superintendent finding out fast that the job looks a lot different from the outside looking in. The hospital, the schools, the county government, the university, they're what holds Silver City together now, and when they're all working on their balance sheets at once, you notice. Here's hoping the trustees know what they're doing at GRMC, and that whatever savings Cobre finds don't come at the cost of the people doing the work.
