A museum board that actually wants to roll up its sleeves, a French bistro settling into downtown, road work that'll test our patience come winter, and a community saying goodbye to one of its own. That's Silver City this week, and there's something in that mix worth noticing. The downtown stuff matters because this town has spent years trying to figure out who it wants to be, and when you see a restaurant owner willing to bet money on a storefront and a board willing to do more than just meet quarterly, that's people voting with their feet. The road closures out toward the stateline and the work on 180 and 90 remind us we're still a place where geography is destiny, where seasons matter, and where getting somewhere takes planning. And Jose Jaurequi's memorial, listed there in the notices like so many others, says what it always says: this community knows its people, remembers them, and shows up.

REMOVED- road open- ROAD CLOSURE – Arizona Stateline Area 080526
A closure of I-10 eastbound lanes at the Arizona Stateline has been lifted, and all detour notices have been removed. Eastbound traffic that had been diverted at Arizona SR 191 to US 70 into Lordsburg can now resume normal routes.
