When a mayor has to break a tie vote on the budget, it means somebody wasn't willing to stake their name on it. That's the kind of thing that happens in a town this size when money's tight and everyone's got a different idea about where the dollars should go, but nobody wants to be the one who said no. It's not pretty, but it's honest work. Meanwhile, the hospital's pushing ahead with that urgent care clinic out on 180, which tells you something about where the growth pressure is building around here, and someone in Santa Fe just got nominated to carry Grant County's interests forward. None of it's glamorous. All of it matters.
