Ty's Take

Water's running where it usually doesn't, which out here means paying attention to which roads are still passable and which ones have turned into temporary arroyos. The Mimbres is up, wet roads are slicking things around Deming and Akela, and the Forest Service has shuttered some gates on the Gila—typical monsoon season stuff, but it happens fast enough that you can't assume the route you took yesterday still works today. If you're heading out to the wilderness or down toward Lordsburg, check before you go. In a county this spread out, a washout fifty miles away doesn't sound like your problem until you're stuck on the wrong side of it.
