Ty's Take

A health fair in late June and a fire in early July—seems like the kind of week that reminds you Silver City's always operating on two tracks at once. On one end of the calendar, folks are lining up at the resource fair because nobody wants to drive forty minutes to Las Cruces for basic care, and on the other end, we're watching what the Sacaton fire does to the country we came here to protect in the first place. Both things matter equally, even though they look nothing alike. The town that draws people for wilderness and art and second chances has to tend to the everyday stuff—your blood pressure, your insurance questions, whether the forest survives the summer intact. Can't really have one without the other.
